Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial
100% Natural Treatment
Typically, the process includes taking a small vial of blood from the patient’s arm, spinning the blood in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. The nutrient-rich platelet-rich plasma is then reinjected into the skin on the face, neck or hands if requested, to stimulate new collagen, improve fine lines and wrinkles and boost skin clarity.
Also, it can be safely injected in the delicate eye area to improve dark circles and hollowness in the eye area. As far as risk goes, there aren’t many. The only risk you run is bruising at the time of the venipuncture. Aside from the discomfort of the blood draw and bruising from the injection, PRP is extremely safe, as it is your body’s own blood being recycled.
The platelets contain high levels of growth factors which, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover, increasing everything from collagen to elastin, while also bringing antioxidants and hydrating properties.
WHAT IS INVOLVED
The big appeal of this treatment is that it is 100% natural, so the risk of any adverse reaction is minimal. The procedure takes 40 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Numbing cream is applied to the area that is to be treated and left for 20 minutes.
Blood is later taken from the patient’s arm and spun and then reinjected back into the desired areas. There is mild swelling and bruising after the treatment. It is advised not to apply makeup for the rest of that day to avoid contamination of the fresh injection sites. Concealer, makeup and SPF may be applied the following day.
Downtime:
There is swelling and redness post filler that lasts 2 to 3 hours. There is also a 50% risk of bruising post filler. If bruising occurs it may last for up to one week. Multiple treatments may be needed for optimal results. Treatments should be performed no more than once per month.
